Qalam was designed and programmed by three Computer Science students in the Qatar campus of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, as part of the course project for Professor Ananda Gunawardena's "Pen-Based Computing" class in Summer 2009. Our primary audience are expatriates who live and work in the Arabian Peninsula countries, but anyone with an interest in learning basic Arabic may find a benefit in using Qalam.
